There have been allegations of bribery by some of the e-commerce company Amazon against some of its legal representatives in India. After which the company has now said in this matter that it does not take the allegations of improper actions lightly and investigates such acts thoroughly to take appropriate action. Amazon, without clarifying the allegations, said that the company does not tolerate corruption.
According to media reports, Amazon has started investigation against some of its legal representatives for allegedly bribing Indian government officials. Not only this, the company has asked its senior corporate lawyer to go on leave.
“Corruption is not tolerated”
On this matter, an Amazon spokesperson said that we do not tolerate corruption at all. We take allegations of illegal acts seriously and investigate them thoroughly. Also take appropriate action. We are not commenting on the allegations or the status of any investigation at this time.

According to experts, American companies like Amazon take the complaints of ‘whistleblowers’ seriously. Especially such complaints about bribing foreign government officials to maintain business. It remains committed to ensure compliance with Corporate Governance Rules.
Ongoing investigation against Amazon
This case of Amazon has come to light at a time when the company is facing the investigation of Fair Trade Regulator, Competition Commission of India (CCI) over alleged anti-competitive practices, preferential treatment of vendors. Not only this, legal dispute continues between Amazon’s Future Group as well.
