WhatsApp has introduced a new feature for Groups. The Facebook-owned instant messaging platform has announced the expansion of its joinable calls feature in group chats. This new feature of WhatsApp makes it easy to join group calls. Users will no longer need to join the call in the beginning. They can join an ongoing group call whenever they feel the time is right.

It is worth noting that WhatsApp introduced the joinable call feature for personal chat in July this year. The joinable call facility for the group has been rolled out globally including in India.
Announcing this new feature of Group Chat, WhatsApp said in a statement, “We’re making it easier to seamlessly connect with your group. Join your group anytime, effortlessly, and directly from the chat view in one go. Join the on-going calls with just one click.
WhatsApp further said, “As group calling grows in popularity, integrating joinable calls gives WhatsApp users a new seamless way to connect with their family and friends groups.”
How is WhatsApp’s new group calling feature and how it works
WhatsApp’s new feature allows users to join group video or voice calls even if they missed it initially. This feature will allow users to leave a group call midway and rejoin the next time they want. This feature works in much the same way as other video calling platforms work such as Microsoft Teams, Google Meet, Zoom, and more.
Before the roll out of this feature, WhatsApp users could not join group calls in the middle. However, users who are part of a group call had the option to add more people.
With the launch of the new feature, group calls on WhatsApp will now show the name of the group instead of the name of the participants. In addition, contacts outside the group will be able to see which group is busy with the call as soon as they open the messaging app. WhatsApp also said that these calls will show a different light ringtone.
